WILLIAMSBURG— Olivia D. is nine years old and plays softball. In addition to her softball hobby, she has recently started making bracelets for Williamsburg Jewelers and has completely sold out her stock.

Olivia started making bracelets in 2022 to save up money in order to purchase a Look-Alike American Girl Doll. From there, she decided she loved the craft and kept making more.

“I really wanted to make bracelets because I think it’s fun,” Olivia said about why she chose to make bracelets. “I wanted other people to have jewelry if they didn’t have the supplies to make it.”

Olivia’s mother made a Facebook post at the beginning of the year where she and her daughter had made vision boards. On Olivia’s board, she expressed that she wanted to sell $100 worth of bracelets, and the owner of Williamsburg Jewelers, Michael Fagan, happened to see the post.

On Jan. 9, Williamsburg Jewelers first made the announcement on its social media that it would be carrying Olivia’s bracelets. By Jan. 27, another post came out announcing she had completely sold out and had to restock. Greater Williamsburg Chamber of Commerce President Terry Banez sent Olivia a heartfelt letter along with some goodies to commemorate the achievement.

Olivia says the experience has made her maybe want to start her own business someday, selling other jewelry.

A new goal she has now that she’s earned $100 is to find other stores besides Lazy Daisy and Williamsburg Jewelers to sell her wares at. A more personal goal is to visit another state or state park.

“I love that she’s found something that she really enjoys doing,” said Olivia’s mom, Morgan D. “It’s fun getting to see all the different color combinations and different designs and things that she comes up with.”

Olivia picks out her own beads, and sometimes her family also helps her pick out beads and supplies. The mother and daughter pair often find themselves looking at the beads anytime they go to the craft store.

Last month, she donated a bit of her sales to Heritage Humane Society. As a result, she’s now considering donating to a new place each month to put money back into the community.
